Let's talk smoothies!

Too often I see smoothies filled with handfuls of fruit plus a banana, with very little fat and usually a lack of protein. For stable blood sugar levels and if weight loss or maintenance is your goal then we need a balance of protein, fibre, fat and greens. This goes for meals AND smoothies! Fats are most often forgotten 🥑. My personal favourites are avocado, nut butter, coconut and hemp seeds!

Here's my go-to (fruit free & low carb) MINT CHIP SMOOTHIE:
~ handful of spinach (greens)
~ 2 tablespoons ground flax seeds (fibre)
~ hemp seeds @planethempsuperfood (fat- high in omega 3's & great protein source)
~ chocolate protein powder
~ 3-5 fresh mint leaves
~ 1/2 cup frozen cauliflower (added veggies & fibre. plus, it makes a smoothie super thick. I promise you won't taste it!!)
~ 3-5 ice cubes
~ unsweetened cashew milk
~ top with cacao nibs
