Matcha has been my go-to for the last few years! As much as I miss and LOVE a good coffee, my body sends me too many signals saying "no more please". It's just too acidic and causes me horrible tummy aches.
New to the trend? Matcha is finely ground powder made up of green tea leaves that happens to be loaded with antioxidants (nearly 3 times more than other high-quality green tea), which are known to help stabilize harmful free radicals in the body. Matcha contains up to five times as much L-theanine as regular green tea (20 mg versus 4 mg). L-theanine is known for promoting relaxation, reduce stress, and improve sleep, as well as boost concentration and alertness. Matcha is a great clean source of energy!
1 tsp organic matcha tea powder
1 serving collagen
1/2 cup nut milk (almond, coconut, cashew, etc)
1/2 cup water
*Optional* Sweeten to taste using; honey, maple syrup, stevia
1. On stovetop, heat water and nut milk until steaming- about 170 degrees (not boiling! this will burn the delicate matcha)
2. Add all ingredients into blender. Cover top with kitchen towel and hold top down. Start blending on low and increase to high for 30 seconds, until frothy.
3. Pour into mug and stir in sweetener if desired. For first time matcha drinkers I recommend starting with a little sweetener!
